My name is Marco Meerman and i have stopped smoking. In this blog i will explain the world why i came to such an act and don't bother to lit a cigarette before you start reading this blog.
I regret the first cigarette i took years ago. I was against it, i thought it was dumb and i hated it. Still, i was curious and smoked one. From then, i was addicted without wanting to be.
From then i was hooked to nicotine, (addiction is not a choice) a highly addictive chimical the industry puts in the cigarette to make you addicted. Like all teh other smokers, i said i liked smoking, but i really did not.
Now I feel sick and my body craves for nicotine, it feels like the hunger, but then again, i would not be fooled, i will not eat more. I will have to wait weeks till the craving is gone, but i'm sure about it.
Why did i start smoking anyway, it has to do with the nicotine. Let's assume a person walks upon you with a pill in his hand and says:
"If you take this pill, you will be addicted to it. If you take it, it is very hard to stop taking it. On average it will cost you 50.000 euro on a lifetime basis. You'll get sick and if you
get incurable illness, you'll pay for the treatment yourself. You will be craving for this pill so much, you´ll do things you would normally not do in order to take one.
You will be less attractive to other people, hence the smell. You don´t have the freedom to take it wherever you want, in most social areas.
Your skin will be aging faster, your teeth will get yellow, your taste will be less. Every pill you take will cost you 28 minutes of your lifetime on average."
Would you take that pill? I would not.
A behavioral scientist once said: We were able to get heroin junkies of the heroine, but they kept smoking.
The main reason why i stop smoking is that I never
wanted to be addicted and i have never ended stopping. So i feel like pushing the good idea and go further than before.
Smokers like me, lie and make excuses all the time. Not that they want to. The reason why a smoker smokes is not because he wants to.
The main reasons are (from my own experience): "Smoking makes me concentrate, it is social, i have to have something in my hands, it tastes good, i like the smell. Nonsense, we make excuses to make it seem logical to others that we smoke, or i'm afraid to stop because of the complications"
Ever think about eating a cigarette? Don't bother saying that a cigarette tastes good. Ever heard anyone say: "You smell so good, can i get that smoke smell in a perfume- form?"
I think every smoker is a stopper, we all think about stopping. I don't think stopping is harder for me then it is for anyone who has never smoked before.
If you're still smoking after reading this, then consider that it is is harder, the further you age and the longer you are addicted.
I hope this was informative to you, take care of yourself.
